Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
– Romans 8:26, NKJV
Everyone has moments of weakness – be it physical, spiritual or emotional. When you feel you are at the end of your strength, this is when you need the Holy Spirit. He provides strength in weakness. He is a worthy helper and the greatest source of comfort when we need it most. There are different areas where the Holy Spirit comes through for us. In difficult seasons, His presence gives us assurance that we are not alone. Jesus said I will not leave you comfortless. (John 14:18)
There will be seasons in our lives when we don’t know what to do or even what prayer to pray. The Holy Spirit ensures that we do not go through those times of struggle alone. In moments of weakness, when words fail us, the Holy Spirit steps in to intercede on our behalf. He knows our hearts. He shares our pain. He understands our needs especially when we don’t have the words to express them. The Apostle Paul said he makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be spoken in human language. His intercession is perfect and aligned with the will of God. His power is made perfect in our weakness as He turns what seems like a breaking point into a breakthrough.
Insight: The Holy Spirit intercedes for us, comforts us, and provides the strength we need to carry on in our weakness.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me lean on You and trust Your power to strengthen me when I am weak.
