Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone
– Ephesians 2:20, NKJV
Building a solid relationship with Jesus begins with a foundation anchored in Him. As the cornerstone of our faith, Jesus provides stability and strength to our spiritual journey. Without our faith in Jesus, his birth, ministry, death and resurrection, our hope is in nothing.
And this is why we need to sow seeds that help solidify the foundation of our faith. Jesus teaches us these essential things. The first is prayer. Prayer serves as the cornerstone of our relationship with Jesus, fostering intimacy and communication with our Saviour. Jesus himself prays at every opportunity.
Studying the scriptures is essential for nourishing our faith and deepening our understanding of God’s Word. Unless you are given to the Word, you will be swept away by every wind of doctrine. Regular immersion in Scripture allows us to align our lives with God’s will and discover His promises and truths.
Last but not least, fellowship with other believers is vital for spiritual growth. Surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals provides encouragement, support, and accountability in our walk with Jesus. The writer of Hebrews enjoins us not to forsake the gathering of believers as some are in the habit of doing. Fellowship has its benefits. You do not want to live in isolation.
Insight: Through prayer, Bible study, and fellowship, we deepen the foundation of our faith and our walk with our Saviour.
Prayer: Father, may my relationship with You be strengthened day by day through intentional acts of living my faith.
