Daily Delight Devotional – Monday, September 18 2023

And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

God is interested in all aspects of your life. Too many Christians seem unconvinced that God seriously desires to guide them daily in their practical living. Guidance is for you day by day and the guided life can be a joyous daily experience.

God’s Word has an amazing abundance of examples, promises and truths related to guidance. There are forms of occult guidance like horoscopes, ouija boards, seances, palm reading and others which are contrary to Bible teachings. God condemned Saul to death for seeking illicit and demonic means of guidance (1 Chronicles 10:13-14). Yet God gave great details of guidance to David when he sought God’s will.

We are living in an age that depends on information technology. Almost every aspect of life is now aided by professionally trained specialists called counsellors, health therapists etc. Thank God for all the skills that have been developed in this important field on Planet Earth, but Isaiah prophesied that Jesus is a “Wonderful Counselor” (Isaiah 9:6). God knows you need a divine counsellor. When you surrender your life to Jesus, your guidance is automatically guaranteed.

By living devotedly and spiritually, you should expect a new thrilling joy as you begin to put God’s guidance into your daily experience.

Insight: God has led committees in discussion until in their decisions, they could say with the early church, “it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us” (Acts 15:28).

Prayer: Father, help me to seek guidance daily in the name of Jesus.
