Daily Delight Devotional – Thursday, November 23, 2023

Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

– Jeremiah 3:22 (KJV)

Backsliding is a terrible thing. The word ‘backslide’ means to turn away from God. If backsliding is in your heart, you are one of those delaying the revival. Without clearing off the backsliding spirit, there can be no revival. A backslider does not wake up one morning and go out to commit adultery. Backsliding happens over a period during which the backslider becomes slack in his thought life as he starts to entertain fleshly desires.

A backslider is a man or woman who is operating below divine expectations. Spiritual decay is a gradual process in the heart of the backslider. Little by little, backsliding sets in and may be nearly unnoticed until it becomes a deep-seated disease in his life.

A backslider can be healed. When there is revival, he will tremble in the spirit and cry, then his heart will become an altar and sanctuary of prayer, and he will rush to be in God’s presence to find God.

Insight: Get ready for true revival and return to God.

Prayer: Father, heal me from any form of backsliding manifestation in the name of Jesus.
