The Generous Heart – #DailyDelightDevotional

Daily Delight Devotional – Tuesday, April 16, 2024

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

– 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, NKJV

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to give with a generous heart, not out of compulsion or obligation, but out of a heart that desires to advance the work of God’s kingdom. When we give generously to support ministries, aid the needy, and spread the gospel, we are sowing seeds that will reap a harvest of blessings, both now and in eternity.

Jesus Himself taught the principle of giving, saying, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38, NKJV). God promises to bless us abundantly in return when we give with a generous heart.

However, our giving should not be motivated by a desire for recognition or reward. Instead, we should give as we purposed in our hearts, with sincerity and cheerfulness, knowing that God loves a cheerful giver. Whether our gift is large or small, what matters most is the attitude of our heart and our willingness to invest in kingdom causes.

Insight: Generosity is not measured by the amount we give but by the attitude of our heart.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of giving and investing in Your kingdom causes. Help us to give generously and cheerfully, knowing that You will bless us abundantly in return. May our giving bring glory to Your name. Amen.
