His word was in my heart like a burning fire.

— Jeremiah 20:9

Fire cannot burn without wood. The Word of God is the wood that feeds your spiritual fire. If you neglect the Word, your fire will burn slowly.

Reading one verse on social media is not enough. Word discipline means studying, meditating, and applying Scripture. The disciples said their hearts burned when Jesus explained the Scriptures to them.

When you read the Word with the intention to obey, your heart will grow hot again. The Word corrects you, strengthens you, and guides you. No Word, no fire.

Insight: The Word of God keeps your heart burning.

Prayer: Lord, give me hunger for Your Word and help me obey it.
