The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

– Psalm 23:1-2, NKJV

The Lord is my Shepherd is a statement of affirmation, of the confidence of a sheep who knows the shepherd will take care of him. And just as a shepherd cares for and guides his sheep, God leads us with love and tender care.

A shepherd is responsible for providing for his flock, ensuring their safety, and leading them to places of rest and nourishment. Sheep trust their shepherd completely, knowing that he will lead them to green pastures and still waters. They don’t know the full journey or where the next pasture lies, but they follow without fear, trusting their shepherd’s guidance.

Getting divine direction is as a sheep follows the instruction and leading of the shepherd – complete and absolute trust – the knowing that irrespective of the circumstance, the shepherd will lead through every circumstance.

When we trust God’s leading, we walk in abundance, not necessarily of material things. You find peace and contentment because the Good Shepherd always knows what is best for His sheep.

Insight: Trusting in the Good Shepherd means relying on His wisdom and believing He will lead you to peace, provision, and rest.

Prayer: Lord, help me trust You as my Shepherd.
