The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

– Proverbs 21:5, NIV

The New Year started a few days ago. Very soon, we’ll count weeks, months and before you know it, we’re closing another year. As much as we have laid out goals and plans, we must endeavour to turn those aspirations into a cascade of accomplishments. Proverbs 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.”

So you may ask, how do I stay consistent? The answer is simple. Take small, intentional steps. Remember the devotional on the power of small steps? Break down your goals into small, manageable tasks. It’s not about the big leaps; it’s about steady progress.

You can start with a daily planner. List your goals, break them into daily tasks, and prioritize. Small, consistent actions add up over time.

As with every situation, there are bound to be challenges. Expect a lot of such challenges and setbacks in your goals. This is where you need to trust in God. Those challenges want to test your resilience and your faith in Jesus. However, embrace setbacks as opportunities. Learn from them and make corrections where necessary. It’s not about perfection; it’s about rugged faith.

Don’t forget to celebrate small victories. Each accomplishment, no matter how small, is a win. Remember, Proverbs 21:5 — diligence leads to abundance.
