What Do You Give to God? – #DailyDelightDevotional

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

– Acts 20:35, KJV

Giving is an important part of Christianity. God is a giving God. The Bible says, God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son. The basic essence of God’s nature is giving. Jesus made some rather strong statements on giving:

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

– Luke 6:38

Giving is something that is natural to us. We enjoy giving. In addition, God expects us to give to Him. It is good to give to one another because when we do, in one sense of the word, we are giving to God (Matthew 25:40). Giving to God is a great blessing. When we give to God, He in turn gives many more blessings back to us. In fact, we are commanded to give to God.

If we are going to give a gift to God, it should be a gift worthy of God. It should be the best we can give. Do you give to God your best? The best of your time? The best of your energy? The best of your resources? Jesus must take first place in your life. He will not take the leftovers of your life. He wants only your best. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness to God (Psalm 4:5), give God sacrifices of thanksgiving (Psalm 107:22 KJV), kind deeds to others (Matthew 25:34-40), and give your body (Romans 12:1). This is not exhaustive but only some ideas of the ways that we can truly give to God.

What are you giving to God?

Insight: God is a God of perfection. It is an insult to offer him less than the best. Tithing should not be ignored even the first fruits of your efforts yearly.

Prayer: Father, I receive grace to give beyond my ability to you and it shall be the best in the name of Jesus.
