Daily Delight Devotional – Thursday, August 20, 2026
“Jesus said to him, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk.’”
John 5:8 —
Jesus did something interesting at Bethesda. He did not carry the man. He commanded him to rise.
After thirty-eight years of being unable to walk, Jesus gave him an instruction that required action. The miracle became visible when the man responded in obedience.
Faith always moves.
Sometimes we keep asking God for another miracle while ignoring the instruction He has already given us. Your next step may be making a call, sending an application, forgiving someone, starting again, returning to school, rebuilding a relationship, developing a skill, or completing something you abandoned.
Do not allow fear to keep you waiting.
You may not feel completely ready. You may not have every answer. But when God says move, trust Him enough to take the next step.
Sometimes your next miracle is connected to your next act of obedience. The strength to walk may appear when you make the decision to stand.
Today, hear the words of Jesus again: Rise, take up your bed, and walk.
Insight: Faith does not only believe; faith responds to God through action.
Prayer: Father, give me courage to respond to Your Word. I receive grace to rise, obey Your instructions, and move forward.
